The commemorative coins went into circulation, replacing the regular issue quarters during that year. The front features George Washington's profile with the word Liberty across the top of the coin and the years 1776-1976 on the bottom. The obverse features a Colonial drummer and a victory torch circled by 13 stars, in honor of the first 13 colonies. This 2-coin set includes one each: Denver Mint Bicentennial Quarter and Philadelphia Mint Bicentennial Quarter.
